Simón Cáceres Barrera, percussionist, musician and composer, was born on December 21, 1995, in the city of Santiago, Chile. His beginning in percussion was in the outstanding Afro-Mestizo Dance and Music Company, where he developed a great ability to play different types of percussion instruments and Latin-African folklore. He continued his independent career, educating himself in different countries such as Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Rapa Nui and Argentina, where he had the honor of studying with outstanding percussion masters. Simón is not only an excellent performer but also has extensive experience in the area of dance and movement, performing in dance classes throughout his career. He’s worked with great national and international teachers, as well as working in the art faculty at the University of Chile, and also teaches private classes.

Simón currently travels through different states educating and presenting his latest album entitled Telúrico, El Tambor es lo Primero, the first percussion album in Chile. It features 13 tracks where you can hear his folkloric influences, Jazz, even the most popular contemporary music. Today, Simón is an active authority in Latin-American percussion with more than 10 years in his career. His dedication when it comes to performing both in the studio as well as live, is relentless.
